Brandon "Kaizen" Tyson
Founding Artist
Two-Spirit, Anishinaabe artist working at the intersection of light, matter, and maker technologies. Creates the installations, designs the products, dreams up what comes next.
Kaizen founded LightBox Project in Calgary from late-night experiments with laser cutters, LED strips, and scrap wood. What started as a personal practice became a family-run art company — and a platform for other artists to have their vision produced at a level they couldn't access alone.
The Wayfinder Landmark, our flagship installation, is Kaizen's exploration of how humans navigate space when the space is paying attention back. Deployed at 7+ festivals across Western Canada.
Wayfinder today: presets + selfie-based interaction. In dev: sensors + AI. Vision: neural-bridge.
The Canvas Platform
Most artists with great design ideas don't have access to laser cutters, CNC routers, LED integration infrastructure, or a production pipeline. We do.
The Canvas Platform is how we bridge that gap. You bring the vision — a pattern, a concept, an image that means something to you. We provide the medium: precision laser-cut wood, programmable LED arrays, and the production capacity to turn your art into a real, purchasable product.
You retain creative ownership of your design. We handle everything else — materials, fabrication, quality control, photography, listing, fulfillment. When your piece sells, we both earn.
How It Works
1. Submit
Send us your design — a pattern, illustration, photograph, or concept. Tell us about the piece and what inspired it. We accept submissions from artists at any career stage.
2. Review
We evaluate your submission for production viability — laser compatibility, LED integration potential, and material fit. We'll reach out to discuss options and refinements.
3. Produce
We handle fabrication, quality control, product photography, and listing on the LightBox shop. Your name and story appear on every product page. You see proofs before anything goes live.
4. Earn
When your piece sells, you earn a revenue share. No upfront costs. No inventory risk. We handle fulfillment, shipping, and customer service.
What Artists Get
Production access — Professional laser cutting, CNC routing, LED integration, and woodworking that would cost thousands to access independently.
Creative ownership — Your design stays your design. Full artist credit on every product page, every marketing mention, every customer interaction.
Revenue without risk — No upfront production costs, no inventory to manage, no shipping logistics. We handle the business so you can focus on the art.
A platform that grows — As LightBox Project expands into new markets, festivals, and retail channels, your work reaches audiences you'd never access alone.
